What’s Danger Dennis?:

Danger Dennis is a game currently being coded on Amiga by [VD] Dennis Pauler, the game is based up on the classic gameplay of Mr. Robot and His Factory from the C64.
It’s written in C, and yes Dennis is doing it live on Twitch!  Curious how a project like this gets built on vintage hardware? Then go hit that follow button on the Virtual Dimension Twitch channel!

Why should you build levels??

Once the game nears completion, Dennis will check out the community-created levels and who knows, yours might make it into the final game!
How awesome would that be? When the game launches, your own level could be part of the official release 😎

C64 Version

The original C64 version is already playable and testable. If you’ve built something cool, we can even port your levels over!
Just note: there are a few gameplay differences between versions, but we’ll tweak things to make it work.

Desktop Version

The Windows version of the editor lets you save and load levels directly from any drive you want. If you’ve been on a creative spree, zip up your level files and share them with the crew on the Virtual Dimension Discord!

The desktop version of the editor is still available for download
but heads up: it’s outdated and won’t be updated anymore.
All future development and updates are focused on the Online Version. 🚀

Hi!

I see a photo of a physical edition.
Is it for the Amiga? For the Commodore 64?

For... both?

We’re thinking about releasing the game in a physical edition as well, but that decision will come later. We’ll decide once development is complete!
That applies to both the Amiga and C64 versions. But for a possible boxed release, I could imagine including both versions together.
I wouldn’t mind that as the coder of the C64 version, but it’s not my decision to make.

Does this create levels for the Commodore 64 version of this game?

Not natively, but I’ll manually convert the levels that fit into the C64 version. A few of the editor-made levels already found their way into the C64 build. Since the C64 playfield is smaller than on the Amiga, not all levels can be ported 1:1.
In the editor, C64 levels end exactly where the green grid starts!

I’m trying to completely rewrite the editor so it supports every version and all the new features in the game.  But that might take a while.

So the game Danger Dennis is to be played in the editor only?

Nope, both the C64 and Amiga versions already run on their real hardware. The only reason you can play the C64 version in a browser is because there’s an emulator that runs inside the browser.
Only the editor will be available online in the browser for now,  the actual games will, of course, run on their original hardware.

Where is the Amiga version Available?

There’s no public playable version of the Amiga version available for download yet.
But you can watch the development live on stream or later on YouTube.
If you’ve got any ideas, feel free to share them on the "Virtual Dimension" Discord!
