C64 Danger Dennis
Devlab/TSA is very proud to present to you our Commodore 64 game Danger Dennis.
This is a C64 port of the Amiga game with the same name, which is also still in development. This jump’n’run game is loosely inspired by the gameplay mechanics of Mr. Robot and His Robot Factory.
Compatible with theC64 mini, theC64 and theVIC20 (in C64 mode).
We’d really appreciate it if you could RATE the game.
It would help us a lot!
The Story:
Our hero Dennis bought popcorn and energy drinks for a gaming night with his pal Hagen. Unfortunately he slipped and dropped his purchase. A sudden gust of wind scattered the popcorn and drinks all over the city. "Great! What now?
The evening is ruined without popcorn and energy drinks and Hagen is waiting for me. The shop has already closed Dennis thought dejected.
"No way, nothing will ruin my gaming night! I will pick up every single piece of popcorn even if its the last thing I do! "
And so it begins....
Controls:
Use the joystick in port 2 to control Dennis.
Your goal in each level is to collect all the popcorn by running across the platforms.
Don’t touch the monsters, if you do, you’ll lose a life!
There are shield pills you can collect, they give you a temporary shield that protects you from all dangers. But be careful: once the shield runs out, the monsters will be more than happy to take a bite out of you!
When you collect an energy drink, Dennis gets a boost and gains the ability to jump! This lets you cross small gaps and reach higher platforms. While powered up, Dennis will start blinking, that means he can jump. But be careful: once the energy wears off, the jumping ends too!
Once you've collected all the popcorn, a door will open. You need to reach it before time runs out! Make it to the door in time, and you'll complete the level and move on to the next one.
You want more?:
What we’d love to know: Would you be interested in a dedicated DISK or tape version, maybe some stickers, posters, or even a full Big Box collector’s edition of the game?

Great new game. I've also added it to my new video along with other recently released games. Hope you like it.
Cool video, thanks I could be part of it.
nice port thank's!!
i thank, you
Who composed the music, and was it the same person who worked on Laserscape?
I did the music for this game. I learned the basics of Goattracker just recently. I did not make the Laserscape music. Why do you ask?
The music of Danger Dennis will be expanded for the final release 1.0.
Was just curious. The "success" chime sounded familiar, so I wondered if there was artist crossover. I guess not.
[ENGLISH BELOW]
"Danger Dennis".
"Danger Dennis. A wonderful platformer that is currently being developed by Dennis, aka ‘Hurrican’ from ‘Virtual Dimensions’ (https://www.virtualdimension.de/) on the Amiga. The friendly colleagues from ‘Devlab/TSA’ are currently taking care of the C=64 version (https://justepyx.itch.io/dangerdennis), which I was allowed to test here. The current preview/tech demo contains 13 levels, the first of which are a tutorial to get you used to the game. The controls are direct and you quickly find your way around. There are still a few little hiccups here and there, but I'm sure they'll work themselves out :-). The graphics are marvellous and you immediately have the feeling of being in the right place and are right back in the 80s. I'm looking forward to the full version and a possible full-size box.

i dislike the AI generated title image on this page but other than that the game looks really cool. i am astonished that it runs in the browser!! is this common for c64 games on itch these days?? let me play this a little longer before i write my feedback
Awesome game!
Thank you :)
I tried to play the latest beta a bit but couldn't get into it. The game play is very tedious.
1) Few critic points: Timers. Timers suck. Never use timers. Everybody hates timers. 2) Gameplay loop: Very tedious, climbing up, falling down, rinse repeat. Bleh. Done it a 100x times. 3) Music: repetitive and not needed, could use sound effects instead because without sound effects it's even less of a game. Music is not needed at all imho or maybe just on one channel.
That's what I would have changed immediately as well as the name/hero of the game, which is lame. Well, it's not all sunshine and roses with this one. 5.5/10 game, maybe...?
On the plus side, the coding and graphics seem nice, but the game play itself doesn't keep up with it. Well, that's my take on this game.
First off, thanks a ton for your feedback, that’s exactly what helps us make things even better.
Alright, let’s see what kind of points you’ve got for us.
1.) Hmm, the timer – okay, that’s a fair point. Some people hate it, some don’t. The whole idea behind it, of course, is to put a bit of pressure on the player so they’ll try to beat the level as fast as possible. But as I’ve said multiple times, we’re making a conversion of an Amiga game, and that one has a timer as well!
2.) Well, if you’ve done it a hundred times already, then it must be a pretty successful concept. And once again – it’s a conversion. Plus, we’re still very early in development. I only started this project a few weeks ago :)
3.) The music isn’t complete yet either, we only added it in its current form so there’s at least something playing in the game. Yeah, it’s pretty short at the moment, but that’s going to change. I promise!
I also want to add SFX, but hey, give it time and the sound effects will come too.
The name’s not gonna change! it’s a straight-up conversion of an Amiga game with the exact same title. I've honestly never heard of anyone getting upset about a game’s name?!
But hey, I’m always happy to hear suggestions that make the game better. But if so many negative points are triggering you, maybe this isn’t the right game for you!

You wanted an opinion, that was mine. It's not my job, however to help you make your game and you won't ever see me touch the cancer that is Discord. I stick with my 3 main points tho: 1. Title of the game (change it) 2. No Sound FX (add it) and 3. The gameplay itself (change/tweak it). I've been playing games for over 40 years now and I can tell what works and what doesn't and here a lot simply doesn't. That's all I got for ya, so good luck with your game.
okay thx
Thank you! :) Danger Dennis (2025, Devlab/TSA)
nice port thank's!!
Great game
Thank you :)
This is just the C64 port of an Amiga game and yes, the Amiga version really is being programmed by someone named Dennis :).
The Amiga version will have an intro and outro that reveal who Dennis is and why he’s jumping through all these levels.
And if everything goes the way I imagine, we’ll have those sequences on the C64 as well ^^
Probably, it is getting too complicated to tell everyone that the original Danger Dennis was written for Windows and Linux as a birthday present for Dennis 21 years ago. :-D
Thank you very much, JustEpyx, for making the C64 version. :-)
Nice Miner 2049'er/Mr Robot clone 😊 Im waiting for the full version 😉 As a K&A PLUS editor, I also have a proposal to release this game physically (your choice of cassette tape, floppy disk, cartridge), unless you already have a publisher, then ok. Please email me.
