Danger Dennis Amiga#40 version

For the Amiga40 event in Mönchengladbach October 2025, Hurrican (the programmer behind the Amiga version)
created a special edition of the game just for the occasion. This new version includes a few tweaks to the game’s controls.
With these changes, we’re hoping to make the later levels a bit more tactical and strategic to play.

New and Changed

  • From now on, you cant just pick up ITEMS by walking over them anymore.
To grab an ITEM stand on top of it and press down on the controller.
  • You can now jump over monsters but timing is everything! Miss it, and you´ll land right ob top of them.
  • Bombs now explode a lot faster, so don´t hang around on top of one for to long!
  • When you grab an Energy Drink, you´ll lose control for a short moment while the drinking animation plays.
The good news: once you´ve hat it, the energy effect lasts for the entire round.
  • Added a Extra Live Item.

Fixed

  • Some issues in the collision routine. In some cases, the player could die from a collision even while carrying a shield.

In rare cases, if the last enemy was defeated at the exact moment the round ended, the player could instantly die at the start of the next round before even getting a chance to move.
(Please don’t hit me if there are still some bugs in there.)

C64 Disk version

This version has nothing to do with the C64 disk release, it only reflects the current state of the Amiga version!
That’s why this special update exists. The C64 disk version still needs to be reworked to match the new control scheme!
The disk version features 20 levels, a player score system, bonus points after each round, and trampolines!

As mentioned, I’ll now start implementing the new control system with all its details into the disk version,
maybe soon you’ll be able to give it a try too!

Level Editor

The online level editor has been outdated for a while, but with the latest Amiga version, it’s completely out of sync now. 😅
The gameplay logic and the variety of level objects have changed (and grown!) quite a bit.
That means I’ll have to rebuild the whole thing from scratch. I’ll tackle that once I find some time since,
yeah… it’s not just a quick update. It needs a full rewrite.

You’re still welcome to create more levels with the old editor just keep in mind that the test gameplay doesn’t reflect how the final game will play.

If the levels you create are really good, there’s still a chance they’ll make it into the Amiga or C64 versions.
I don’t know yet when the new editor will be ready — it’s just one of many projects on my list, hehe.
